ZESCO DISCONNECT POWER IN FLOOD AFFECTED AREAS.

ZESCO Limited has disconnected electricity supply in some flood affected areas as a safety precaution

This measure is aimed at preventing electrical hazards such as electrocution, short circuits, and infrastructure damage.
In a statement issued by ZESCO corporate affairs department, the affected areas include parts of Kanyama and Makeni.
The power utility firm has cautioned it's customers switch off their main switch or circuit breaker if it is safe to do so.
"Move to higher, safer ground if your home or business is affected by flooding. Do not touch electrical appliances or outlets if there is water around.
Stay away from fallen power lines and report any exposed wires immediately and wait for a qualified electrician to inspect your wiring before switching power back on," reads the statement in parts.
The power utility firm also urged affected customers to check appliances for water damage before using them after power is restored.
"Power will only be restored when it is safe to do so. ZESCO technicians are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as needed," it said.
