OVER 100 FARMERS WITH DISABILITIES THREATEN TO PROTEST OVER ALLEGED NEGLIGENCE BY GOVT TO CONSIDER THEM FOR SAFF

Over 100 farmers with disabilities from the Kambilombilo Resettlement area on the Copperbelt have threatened to protest at state house over alleged negligence by government to consider them for the Sustainable agriculture financing facility-SAFF-.
The farmers, who were allocated land by the Office of the Vice President in 2017, claim that the Ministry of Community Development and the Ministry of Agriculture have failed to provide them with necessary farming inputs.
Representative of the affected farmers, Martin Nkole, has expressed frustration that all attempts to contact local government officials, provincial leadership, and line ministries have been unsuccessful.
Mr. Nkole has since challenged government to fulfill its commitment to allocate 10% of the facility to persons with disabilities and to conduct an audit to determine how many have benefited so far.
And when reached for a comment on the matter, the Ministry of Agriculture requested for a press query.
