ERB ASSURES ZAMBIA HAS SUFFICIENT FUEL STOCKS EXCEEDING REQUIRED THRESHOLD

The Energy Regulation Board-ERB has disclosed that the country’s current fuel stocks are above the required threshold, with 96.8 million liters of diesel and 23 million liters of petrol stored in various facilities.
Addressing the media in Lusaka this morning, ERB Director General Engineer Elijah Sichone assured the public that despite the stock shortages experienced two months ago due to transportation challenges, the country now has sufficient fuel reserves.
Mr. Sichone says the stocks are sufficient to meet daily consumption needs, covering 4.5 million liters of diesel and 1.6 million liters of petrol per day.
He also noted that of the 627 operational filling stations monitored by the ERB, 587 are selling both petrol and diesel, which is a positive development for consumers.
Mr. Sichone urged motorists not to engage in panic buying, reassuring them that the supply of petroleum products will remain stable.
