Zesco Limited, the leading power utility company in Zambia, anticipates a stabilization in the power supply by February next year, thanks to expected normal to above-normal rainfall. In an exclusive interview with Phoenix News, Zesco Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi highlighted that increased rainfall will provide more alternatives to hydroelectric power, enhancing energy availability for the national grid.
Maumbi emphasized that the government’s initiatives to mitigate load shedding, such as the widespread installation of solar panels, could significantly boost the country's power supply once fully operational.
Furthermore, Mr. Maumbi expressed optimism that many consumers will transition to solar energy, net metering, and other alternative power sources by next year. This shift is expected to alleviate pressure on the national grid and improve electricity distribution across Zambia.
