RECENT PROTESTS BY CITIZENS AN INDICATION OF GOVT’S FAILURE TO TACKLE KEY NATIONAL ISSUES

 Governance Activist Gilbert Chisenga says the recent protests witnessed in the country by citizens are a clear indication that the government has failed to address national issues.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Chisenga expressed concern over recent protests, including the fix Zesco, University of Zambia Staff and high cost of living protests, which he believes highlight the governance challenges facing the country.

Mr. Chisenga states that while citizens' resorting to protests may be seen as an inappropriate approach to compel government to address their concerns, they should be allowed to express their views without fear of intimidation or arrest.

He believes Zambians have opted for this path because the government has failed to fulfill its campaign promises and provide solutions to critical issues currently facing the country.
