Community Action Against Corruption-CAAC- is urging President Hakainde Hichilema to quickly consider setting up a commission of inquiry to look into the conduct of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions and the Drug Enforcement Commission, including state chambers who are rumored to be involved in frustrating the corruption fight.
CAAC Chief Executive Officer Brighton Tembo says a commission of inquiry is necessary to probe these institutions as their conduct in the past two years is questionable when it comes to handling of serious corruption allegations of the past regime and those close to the UPND government.
Mr. Tembo says allegations circulating in the media from reputable people, should never be treated as mare speculations and need serious attention.
He has advised the president to quickly act, stating that law enforcement agencies have attained a very questionable standing in fighting corruption and cannot be surprised if these institutions have been captured by corrupt people.
