PRESIDENT HICHILEMA REAFFIRMS ZAMBIA'S COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING AFRICAN UNIONS' VISION OF PROMOTING REGIONAL INTEGRATION


 President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to supporting the African Unions' vision of promoting regional and continental integration.

Speaking during the official launch of the Economic Social and Cultural Council-ECOSOCC 20 years Anniversary flagship commemoration in Lusaka today, President Hichilema who was represented by Vice President Mutale Nalumango said the country remains committed to enhancing economic growth and development and also fostering democratic governance and human rights.
President Hichilema says as a continent, there is a need to harness and foster a greater sense of solidarity for a brighter future for all Africans where children can thrive, economies can grow and the continent integrated.
And President Hichilema has also urged ECOSOCC to accelerate efforts in providing an effective platform for the citizenry to be involved in the implementation of agenda 2063 which is in accordance with the ambitious mandate summarized in the constitutive act of the African union which gives the organ legitimacy and premise in providing advisory opinions on emerging issues to the African union.
Meanwhile, ECOSOCC Head of Secretariat William Carew says the 20 commemoration of the organization holds significance in recalling the vision of the African union which aims for integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force of the global arena.
