RTSA STILL CHARGING REVISED ROAD USER FEES DESPITE BEING SUSPENDED BY GOVT

Some motorists in Lusaka have complained that the Road Transport and Safety Agency -RTSA- has continued charging them the revised road user fees despite government's decision to suspend the fees.

RTSA on May 20th 2024 issued a notice to the general public to the effect that it had revised user fees in accordance with statutory instrument no. 25 of 2024, whose’s implementation was halted by government.

In an interview with Phoenix News, the motorists are frustrated and confused over the ongoing situation as they are subjected to the revised fees despite government's order.

They have explained that previously, they would pay about K121 to renew their licenses, but are now paying about K163, which they say is inconveniencing them.

But when contacted for a comment, RTSA Head of Public Relations, Mukela Mangolwa acknowledged this oversight, which he says requires time to change.

Mr. Mangolwa has assured that once changes are made to the system, they will revert back to the old user fees.
