Accountability and Governance Expert Gilbert Chisenga is concerned about the selective application of the law in the fight against tribal and hate speech in the country.
Mr Chisenga notes that the police have been swift in invoking the law on opposition members suspected of the vice but hesitant to do the same to members of the ruling UPND.
He says President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent warning of stern action against perpetrators of the vice will only be seen to be fair if the law is applied fairly.
Meanwhile, the Ndola district pastor's fellowship has challenged the police to arrest UPND supporters who have threatened violence against former president Edgar Lungu in videos making rounds on social media.
Fellowship Chairperson Reverend Mulenga Chilekwa says police should ensure fairness, professionalism and impartiality in the application of the law.
