PRESIDENT HICHILEMA CALLS FOR SPEEDY IMPLEMENTATION OF LOBITO CORRIDOR PROJECT

 President Hakainde Hichilema has called for speedy implementation of the Lobito Corridor Project.

Speaking during the official opening of the Lobito Corridor Investment Forum at Ciela Resort this morning, President Hichilema said the corridor, connecting Zambia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic Of Congo holds immense potential for the economic advancement of the region.

President Hichilema says the Lobito Corridor, a vital transportation route, presents a strategic opportunity for enhanced trade and connectivity among the participating nations.

The Head of State has since urged stakeholders from government agencies, private sectors, and international organizations to discuss strategies for accelerating the development of the Lobito Corridor and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts and innovative approaches to overcome challenges and expedite the project's implementation.

At the same event, US President Joe Biden's Senior Advisor Amos Hochstein highlighted the US governments support to advancing the Lobito Corridor Initiative due to its transformative impact on the economies of Zambia, Angola and the DRC.
