The opposition Economic Freedom Fighters has voiced concern over the lack of a set timeframe for Zambia’s debt restructuring negotiations with the International Monetary Fund-IMF- and its creditors.
According to party president Kasonde Mwenda, the failure to define a clear timeframe has left Zambia's economic future uncertain, putting citizens' well-being in peril.
He says reports in international news agency, Reuters, which published an article headlined "Zambia says no timeline on debt restructuring as IMF seeks compromise" reveals a concerning state of affairs with negative effects for citizens.
The EFF leader says Zambians have continued to suffer under the weight of poverty and economic misery while the UPND government prioritizes its political agenda.
Mr. Mwenda has since encouraged Zambians to unite and hold the UPND government accountable by urging them to mobilize and utilize resources to address the country's challenges.
