Civil Rights Activist Brebner Changala is calling for the resignation of Information and Media Minister and Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa.
This follows Mr. Mweetwa's alleged involvement in issuing tribal remarks on behalf of then opposition UPND and an attempted bribery scandal involving a Journalist from KBN.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Changala has charged that Mr. Mweetwa is not suitable to be Minister and Government Spokesperson due to the remarks he made and is urging President Hakainde Hichilema promptly address this issue and heed to growing calls for Mr. Mweetwa to either resign or be fired.
He adds that Mr. Mweetwa has admitted to committing a crime and expects police to have moved in already to put a stop to what he calls state sponsored criminal activities.
Meanwhile, United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia leader, Charles Chanda, has called for the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Mweetwa over his recent revealing that the UPND in opposition worked with PF Member Chishimba Kambwili to issue tribal remarks so that then President Edgar Lungu could be hated by people and be brought down.
Mr. Chanda has demanded that Mr. Mweetwa resigns on moral grounds to allow for an active investigation into these allegations.
