A total number of 111,116 out of 163,408 candidates who sat for the 2023 Grade 12 examinations have obtained full school certificates, representing a 68 percent pass rate.
Announcing the results in Lusaka this morning, Education Minister Douglas Syakalima says this however reflects a decrease of 1.26 percent points from 69.29 percent in 2022.
Mr Syakalima says a total of 48,893 candidates obtained statements of results, 3,354 failed the exam while 3, 093 were absent.
The minister has also revealed that a total of 31 cases of suspected exam malpractice were reported involving 620 candidates, reflecting a significant reduction from the 112 reported in 2022.
