FATHER AND SON JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING 15-YEAR-OLD STEP-DAUGHTER/STEP-SISTER

 

THE Livingstone High court has sentenced Joseph Bwalya, 55, a Choma resident to 30 years imprisonment for defiling his step daughter aged 13.

The court has also given a 20 year sentence to Mr Bwalya’s son for defiling the same juvenile.
In count one Mr Bwalya, the stepfather to the victim on dates unknown but between December 1,2022 and January 31,2023 had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
In the second count Ben Bwalya, the step brother to the victim on dates unknown but between  July 1 and July 31, 2022 had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
The two were found guilty for defilement by the Choma Magistrate Court last year and committed to the High Court for sentencing.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in  a statement that Livingstone High Court Judge Catherine Phiri passed judgment after considering the evidence that was presented before the court.
Mr Hamoonga commended all police officers, legal professionals, and support staff involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case.
