As Zambia joins the rest of the African Continent In Celebrating African Freedom Day today, President Hakainde Hichilema this morning led service chiefs and diplomats accredited to zambia in laying wreaths at the freedom statue along independence avenue.
The President and his entourage arrived at the freedom statue in Lusaka at about 09:30 hours and later proceeded to Embassy Park which is the presidential burial site where he also laid wreaths.
The Head of State is also expected to host an investiture ceremony to present honors and awards to some gallant Zambians for their service to the nation.
And in his Africa Freedom Day commemoration message last night, President Hichilema underscored the need for youths to actively participate in realizing the benefits of the African free trade area adding that to achieve economic freedom, government must be able to provide an attractive environment for the private sector to grow.
The Head of State said Africa Freedom Day commemorates the founding of the organization of African unity and also presents an opportunity for Zambia to join the rest of the continent in celebrating freedom and achievements.
