During a period when several countries have dropped their guard on Covid-19 measures, Zambia is seeing a rise in new cases.
Zambia has recorded 39 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24hours hours with no death recorded during the same period.
The rise is being attributed to global trends such as change in weather and the immunity owing to the Omicron variant.
Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo says while the country has not reached a concerning positivity rate, the situation is of great concern to health experts.
She has disclosed that Zambia has received a shipment of 1,000 courses of Paxlovid, a drug recommended for the treatment of mild to moderate Covid-19 in high-risk patients.
