The Zambia Medical Association has distanced itself from the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia President Dr. Brian Sampa’s call for the government to ban alcohol in the country.
Dr. Sampa on Wednesday embarked on a 140 kilometers walk from Lusaka to Kabwe to pursue the government to ban alcohol but the Association Secretary General Dr. Roy Tolopu said the medical fraternity has not taken any position regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol in Zambia.
Dr. Tolopu said the position taken by Dr. Sampa to embark on a walk from Lusaka to Kabwe to sensitize citizens about the dangers of alcohol and pursue the Government to ban it is personal and does not represent the medical fraternity.
