Kulamba returns from COVID-19 isolation



AFTER a two-year absence owing to COVID-19, the Kulamba traditional ceremony is set to return this year bigger and better, according to organisers.


Celebrated by the Chewas of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique, the ceremony has been set for August 27, 2022 at Mkaika in Katete district in Eastern Province.


This follows a series of consultations held with various stakeholders involved in organising the ceremony.


Reuben Kamanga, a member of the Chewa Heritage Foundation, has confirmed the return of the ceremony in an interview. 


Kamanga urged all those wishing to attend the ceremony to ensure they get vaccinated against COVID-19.


He said this year's ceremony will be interesting and unique, having not taken place the last two years owing to he outbreak of COVID-19.


Kamanga further appealed to business houses and other partners to come on board and partner with the organising committee in order to host a successful ceremony.
